Welcome to RBotM June 2021
This month we are back on schedule and with the easing of restrictions, good weather and some nice builds I see going on in the threads, I suspect we could be in for a good one.
There seems to be quite a few new members as well so for those of you who have only recently found us then don't be shy, dig out those retro rides and stick them up. This isn't a concourse bike show this is a place to show off what you have been riding and or building lately. For everyone.
Usual rules apply, 2 photos and a brief couple of sentences description with, if possible, a link to a build thread in readers rides or somewhere else where people can get more information.
Entry will be open until last day of the month and then a five day poll will decide the winner.

I’ll open the batting with my finally finished, Shimano Yumeya adorned, DuraAce equipped 1981 Claud Butler Colstar

It’s a stunning frame to ride, 531 fully butted throughout, with Campagnolo dropouts.
Now built with a new rear bridge to properly space it out to 135mm & built as a 2x10 RetroMod with every conceivable component in DuraAce (inc aero bars) ranging from the mid 90’s to mid 00’s. And finished off with as many Yumeya parts possible (chain, mech bolts, brake shoes & jockey wheels).

1990 Raleigh Dyna-Tech Cronos with Dura Ace 8 speed.
Rescued from near death, with a very careful, and sympathetic restoration to try and retain as much of the original paint and components as possible. Somebody had treated it to a life outside, and rattle can paint job in black!
The decision to polish most of the components was made as the original finish was badly damaged. Many upgraded Titanium and alloy bolts to make it a bit more special.
There’s a link on here to a build thread, but sadly all the pictures are lost within the host site I was using. I think the intro story is probably the only thing worth reading.

Bianchi Specialissima X4 just finished. Columbus TSX rechromed and painted. C Record century finish group. Selle Italia Campionissimo (Coppi) saddle. Bars were leather wrapped by Kontour.cc in Belgium. Been for a couple of rides already and It's coming with me to Giaole in October (hopefully)

Trailwright's 1985 Gazelle Champion Mondial AA Special.
It's been a long time since I had a nice steel frame, so over the winter I scoured the popular selling pages for something that would fit the bill. All the usual suspects like Colnago's, Ciocc's, Rossin's were just too much money for what was on offer, but this Gazelle in 531 Competition spec came up at a very reasonable price in Holland. Those in the know will remember their association with the TVM team so they have a pedigree for making proper racing machines, as well as the normal stuff for punters. I contemplated kitting out in Dura Ace 7400, but I already had a '93 Chorus chainset and bottom bracket going spare, plus a couple of DA 7700 parts, so the 9-speed 7700 from 1996 route was taken for everything else. This also gave the additional sprocket at the back over 7400. Bars and seat post are late nineties carbon, rims are FIR Benidorms, and of course my favourite Flight saddle. With the exception of the tyres and DA7800 pedals, this keeps it all as a truly retro qualifier. It's really nice to ride, the gears and brakes are flawless, and it's fairly responsive. I was surprised how light the 531 frame builds up to - 21lbs / 9.5kg. This could easily be reduced with a lighter bottom bracket but then that's not the point of a retro bike at the end of the day!

One of my COVID-19 Spring lockdown builds: Crescent Pepita 1972-1973 (319 model?), Reynolds 531 frameset with Nervex Pro lugs, and original paint and decals (except top of seat tube decal and chequered embellishments). Original parts: Campagnolo Valentino Extra Groupset, Nisi rims with Campagnolo Tipo hubs, Ideale #45 saddle, Stronglight steel cranks. Simplex alloy chainrings (50/45), Atom 5 speed FW, Lyotard pedals, AVA stem, bar- house part alloy, headset- house part chromed steel, Weinmann Vainqueur brakeset, Campagnolo BB cable guide, REG TT cable guides. New parts: Campagnolo Record seat post (orig. was chromed steel house part), SRAM chain, Shimano chainstay cable stop (with bike as received), Christophe toe cages, Sunlite leather toe straps, REG shifter and brake lever covers, Jagwire cables and housings, Zefal pump, Continental 28mm tires, beer. Excellent ride even with the lower grade drivetrain.
