1990 Raleigh Castorama Team Bike

This is Thierry Marie's Cyfac built 'Raleigh' Castorama team bike which I built up from frame and forks that I had renovated by Cyfac last year. It's C-Record throughout and 653 tubing. 1990 was the year Marie won the prologue in the Tour and spent the first stage in yellow, this could have been the frame ridden on the first stage!!

Very pretty, but the geometry looks really slack or is that just camera angle? very large gap between rear wheel and seat tube?
The camera angle makes it look worse, but it is slack. This was a Guimard thing at the time, he believed that it allowed more power transfer so some of the team frames were made in this way. It rides really well.

Somewhere on the Forum I posted a comparison of this frame next to my Mercian. The difference is considerable!!

Ah, it's here....

I haven't a clue either, I think the main outcome is that it knackered all the riders' knees!!

Well they'd be way back of the pedals?
It's actually really nice to ride, very comfortable. I did a couple of 10's on it as well, and recorded quite competitive times. Not sure if I tried to stay in the saddle all day I would feel the same though. Will try and give it a go in the summer.

Since building it up , it has been far to wet to ride it any distance and give a proper assessment . Once summer comes I will find out more  . The local street test is to short to tell .
