Re; RBotM April 2018-Retro-Mod entry

I'm going to put forward my favourite bike. one that I will never sell as it's simply the best riding bike I've ever built. I started with a 90's Tommasini Tecno frame in Columbus EL OS steel and set out to create a weight-weenie that would be competitive with modern carbon bikes: fitting a NOS 10 speed Carbon Centaur Ultratorque Groupset (but with Ti Record brakes as I prefer look to Skeletons), PMP titanium seatpost, Look Titanium stem (threaded), Deda Spectrum Carbon handlebars (26mm diameter), PMP titanium skewers, Record headset, cut-out Selle SLK Carbon railed saddle (non-gel:rarer and more comfortable) and Ksyrium ES wheels with the sculptured rims. I completed the inaugural London-Surrey 100 in 5 hrs 20 mins on this bike, averaging 19mph- not bad for me at 13st 4lbs aged 47! The bike is everything a retro-Mod should be: classic, beautiful, comfortable, reliable, fast and a complete joy to ride! Irio, hats off to your craftsmanship-thank you.

This is my retromod Rourkie. A 531C frame finished in cream and pearlescent winefire red. The head badge was custom painted too. It has a Campag 11 speed mix of Record and Super Record, Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels and Ritchey classic silver finishing kit. The saddle is a red Brooks Swallow from the Union Jack range whiche were produced to celebrate the Olympics

Liking that head tube finish-very classy.

2017 Colnago Arabesque 30th. Anniversary

Yes, this is my recently completed 'reverse' Retro Mod - a brand new series 2017 Colnago Arabesque frameset with a few tweeks and changes to recreate a more elegant period. Precise straight fork was swapped out with an original 1983 Arabesque fork, a 30th Anniversary groupset was fitted (roughly half original/restored and half reproduction) and it spent a bit of time in my Bling Shed....

Yes I know it's not English (except for the bar tape!) so it won't win - but I thought some readers might enjoy the cyclo-porn.

Here's a Cinelli SC from 1988 in SLX tubing with a modern Campagnolo Athena groupset, Hope wheelset and real world tyres. Discovered and bought it from a bicycle shop in Amsterdam in 2009 on an OWMTB sortie for a mere 110eu - was my first proper road bike ever! Paint is an unusual peachy colour that's slowly flaking away to reveal the chrome underneath. It's far from pristine but still turns heads when parked up at places like Manchester RCC... Serial is 8839.
