The Colnago is nice but there are two things that lets the bike down! Bars & stem = Awful.

Well Ian,

Canvassing is probably not the done thing and one man's meat is often another man's poison :( but in defence of my Colnago, the bars are 1987 Modolo Anatomic Bend (Speedy version) and the stem is a 1987 Modolo Professional. Both have been part of the bike since its purchase in 1988 and therefore are at least period correct for Italian mid-range bikes of the time (as are all other components except the inner chainring, which is - regrettably - a Stronglight as I was, at the time that replacement was necessary, unable to source a Chorus inner chain ring).

The bars are very comfortable and the stem is the perfect length, so awful or not, they're good for me and my bike :D

Cheers

Please don't take it to heart colnagolover! Its me being fussy! The Colnago is very nice but the bars & stem seem
to spoil the bike, I have a lovely Gios and its superbe but two things let it down and its the bars & stem, they was on
the bike when custom built for an Italian bloke and always haggling do I or don't I change the awful things, they are still fitted.

Ian, whether I like it or not, I'm far too old and life is now too short :( to take things to heart and so - like your GIOS - I'm pretty sure my stem/bars'll stay where they are - I'm used to them and they're used to me.

I've always described the Colnago as perfect comfort - you know, the sort of comfort you feel when you put on a well worn jacket that just drops over your shoulders and justs fits to a T - not too tight and not too baggy, everything right where it should be

And then there's the small matter of not being able to afford Cinelli bars and ITM or 3TTT stems when I bought the bike - but that's another story......

I can't go with this early plastic bike made in FRANCE - so my vote goes to the Saronni coulour styled Colnago (sometimes I think I will have one in my collection too)

Thanks, Gridno - now I at least know that I got out of the starting blocks ..... even if I do stumble at the first hurdle

PS My Colnago is my collection - one and only! :D

Well I must admit that Colnagos don't usually float my boat, but I do like the job you've done colnagolover. That's got to be the best colour scheme from Colnago any day.

Had to face it .... whatever made Saronni happy had to be more than good enough for me ;) And he could win a rainbow on my bike, I'd never get to the sign in with his
