Sounds like a Europa to me, looking forward to seeing pics!

That serial is likely indeed 1982, third digit is the year of manufacture and since Raleigh introduced the numbering system in 1973 it cannot be 1972.

Europa's had mudguard eyes and pressed dropouts though....... here's the 1974 Europa, not sure they were making them in 1982

Ah, here's a later one........looks more "Raleigh" than the earlier one above which has a yellow head tube and Carlton Crespera lugs. Still has mudguard eyes though.

This was the last year that Raleigh Team bikes 'wore' this colour scheme, as the Raleigh Panasonic bike arrived in 1984 (I think..!)
