Raleigh Record Ace

Well, they arrived this evening with no damage after passing through Evri’s hands. They are very clean and will look bang on once fitted.

Over the weekend I sorted the front wheel out. Cleaned, spokes rubbed down, rims very lightly polished, then fresh grease and new tyre fitted. I need to apply the hub decal. I now need to do the same to the rear, clean the pedals, fit the chain and hook up the derailleurs, fit the mudguards, then she’s done.

Quick question about fitting the mudguards.

Where is the correct place to locate the fixing tab of the mudguard, between the rear of fork/brake bridge and fixing nut, or between the brake caliper and fork/brake bridge? Or is it a matter of preference?

Cheers

Cheers. I’ve seen them fitted both ways, thought I’d ask. All I know is it’s a bit of a pain when you want to take them off when they are fitted between the caliper and fork/brake bridge.

Very nearly finished the RRA today. Now running the correct Suntour Ultra 6 freewheel and chain. I had some decent brown Dia-Compe blocks so used those, let’s see how they perform. I went with an original saddle, a bar and stem combo with original bar tape and ends. If only I could remember where I put the bloody pedals! I’ll have a look later after a cuppa.
