Who does your paintwork? Beautiful, I'm glad I don't have to choose 😂
I use various painters - the Bianchi was painted in Italy and the Claud by Mario Vaz in London. The Hobbs and Excel are in original paint - the Excel still has all the gold feathering on just about every tube if you look carefully

The Excel was built not far from where I was born. I had noticed the original paint. I have a couple in original paint, its always nice to see. It shows the bikes story and life.

Hi guys

i just picked up a gorgeous RRA today with the very unusual frame number 1257 F.S
just wondered if anyone can shed some light on it - named rider , special build etc??
it’s a keeper so no rush to know but it would be cool if it turned out to be something
different. Here are a few pics

cheers , Mike
Hi Mike,
Just signed up and came across your post re RRA. I have had 1112FS sitting around in various garages and sheds for many years and am finally getting round to cleaning her up now I'm retired. It appears to be mostly original including the M463 Rack and very rare Resilion cantilever brakes. Did you discover anymore about this line of serial numbers?
Best wishes, Andrew

NB; 4 speed hub date is 1952

Hi Andrew, I have 1318FS and have also seen 1336FS. I don't think there's anything special about the FS series of numbers (except for them all being RRAs of course), I think it was just an additional block of numbers extra to a certain years production after all that years numbers had already been allocated. Raleighs serial numbers are quite messy, a lot of their records were destroyed in a fire so their archives are very incomplete. I've been through the index of archived documents now held at the Nottingham City Archives and there's no list of frame numbers available covering the RRA years.

Okay, well it's good to know the frame number is consistent with the SA hub date and other RRA. Many thanks.

Hi,
Attached image of my RRA 1952. As you can see frame number follows same format 1112FS.
