I think it’s build day. Dogs first again. With pic of course. This is not a wham bam thank you LGF thread.

I have to login for that? Looks messy, Personally I wouldnt want it.

VW brilliant orange and a pearlescent laquer should see to that with some replacement decals.

Great weather for spraying knackered old frames on the cheap.

You be quiet and go and sit on the naughty step. If you can't say anything nice....

Just having a break before I tape the bars. Then. It Is done.

For now.

Other than the wheels

Re: Raleigh Gran Sport change of direction.

Where to start? I was so disappointed with the Europa that I nearly didn't bother having the Tourer. So glad i did! This is amazing. Chalk and cheese, oil and water, apples and porcupines..... you get the idea. Whereas the the Europa was rigid, dead, harsh and positively scary, this was smooth, lithe, forgiving of the numerous blemishes on the roads around here. The gran Sport is twitchy in a ' don't forget your riding a big boys bike' kind of way. Reaching for a gear requires planning and accuracy. Everything is 'just so' meant for those who ride for hours on machines such as this and to whom it's all second nature. Not me then.

The tyres. What tyres? 20mm strips of liquorice. Initially a bit of a shock paired with the geometry as incredibly fast turning with much less giro than the tourer. Ride is also longer, far more head down arms forward racy. No sh*t Sherlock.

For fear of the heat melting my Sambas and my current predicament, I only did a few shakedown miles but so light and responsive a ride is this that I wanted more. Stopped for a few pictures outside the pub in the next village. The sunlight hides our wrinkles well...

Can you tell I'm pleased?

Thank you for your patience. Cashier number four please.

It has some issues. The karma campag levers turned out to be aero in non aero hoods so went with them. The bar tape i thought was old school black perforated leatherette but wasn't. Will do for now until i get some period levers. Might go black nylon ribbon?

Not sure if I want to bother with the original wheels as these are really nice MA2 maillard/simplex hubs with a brand new block. They cleaned up well and look the part. Might return the new spokes as they were £50 alone. Would pay for levers ish.

On thew whole very happy with the way it turned out.

So there Mr Cheese. :p
