Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

Top tube looks like the lacquer has peeled, could be reflections but looks like it needs painting.

If it were less money I’d not be so fussy but I’m not sure about those threads, could be fine if chased but who knows without seeing it in person.

For that sort of money I’d want forks/seatpost and minty mint paintwork and no doubts about any threads.

There are definitely some marks on the top tube which I highlighted with the seller and asked for detailed pics of that along with the aforementioned arears but those are being ignored.

I have been given a much better price but I feel even that is too much without the required detailed pics.

Viewing is out of the question this side of the new year but with the resolution of digital photos today I shouldn't need to.

I suppose its a question of how much I really want it and if I want to take the gamble with an akward seller, alarm bells are certainly ringing.

If requests are being ignored that suggests to me that the seller is reluctant to be honest with you.

The market is starting to bottom out, as we run up to the silly season, and people are struggling anyway. It's a buyers market. You are in control of this transaction, not the seller.

All my Raleighs turned up at a price I was willing to pay, or simply found me. When I first started looking I was willing to buy almost anything, and did, ending up with stuff I didn't really want. Then I learned patience, and it paid off.

If you have doubts walk away. Another will surface sooner or later.

It's not exactly a 'grail' bike, and for it to be 'right' will require investment beyond It's initial cost. You will not likely recoup that investment. If it Is a 'must have' then fair enough. If you're interested for no other reason than 'just because it's there', then you may regret it. Is it worth it to you?

Sound advice there Markybeau.

There are warning signs clearly there which would be eased with the requested pictures, if I don't receive them pictures by Monday I will end my communication.

Whilst it's not the holy grail of Raleighs it is from my favourite range and this one sits at the top of the tree. That said I have been offered a much better price which is not loads more than I want to pay but I'm being sensible as like you say this one is an expensive build and that's if I can find all the correct campag parts. Recouping money is not a concern as I build bikes for myself and have never sold one of my Raleighs on to date.

As I've typed this more pictures have come through so I shall now look over these.

Sorry, I didn't read your previous posts thoroughly. I skimmed through and thought you were talking about an Encounter. Yes, the Endeavour is a different beast altogether, and one that doesn't come up often. If it's the one in Rotherham it's been up for months.

Do you plan to build it back to catalogue spec or something else?

Well I'm out of the running on this one!

The BB almost certainly wants chasing out and the paintwork is not as good as it looks on the eBay pictures. The offer has now changed from £180 to £200 plus postage and although I realise its a rare frame I'm not willing to pay that much.

It's not terrible by far but £215 is too rich for me.

For anyone interested in this one I've attached some better pictures.

Curious to know if anyone has come across another dynatech decade ?

I keep looking but think I will never be that lucky to find one
I’ve only ever seen the red one I used to have and sold - and one more here - but that was in MT5 silver and blue.
That must be the rarest Raleigh MTB
