Raleigh 753

TREK

Dirt Disciple
I have an opportunity to purchase this Raleigh 753

I've been told that it was built in Ilkeston and is team issue, not sure what year.

If you can't read the serial number it's SB5334

anyone have an idea what it might be worth ??

thanks

A team issue bike would not have a frame number but instead the rider's initials, year and frame issue number to that rider for the year. SB issue are otherwise exactly the same, built in the same workshop and very nice. Worth more in America, especially with original paint. This one would normally have the size stamped on it too.

Re:

There is a number 55 stamped opposite the bottom bracket, it doesn't show in the photo

Looks like an Ilkeston frame with the SB serial (1981/82) - not a team rider though. Looks to possibly have had a renovation at some point. The 753 decal isn't original. Because of that, you would need to know weights, seat post size, outside diameter tubing sizes to confirm it is 753.

Originalshinkicker beat me to it.... SB5334 is about 1982-83. Not a frame for the Raleigh Team and not built to spec by someone as they should have an H stamped on the BB so it's stock. 55 should be the size in cm.

It looks renovated as the decals seem wrong, also the forks don't seem right somehow with the Cinelli style crown.

How much is the guy selling it for?

Re:

Been doing some homework and asking questions.

Was definitely a team issue. Built to spec. But apparently the seat post had cracked just above the BB. So Ilkeston replaced the tube and refinished the paint. Most likely the decal got changed around.
Also the world bands are quite significant to this rider,
