There is no secret, you need polishing tools, time and a lot of patience

I bought a dremel and a small kit for polishing, as designated by dremel. Say I want to bring my XT cranks out of their sad scuffed existence, is this plausible?

A Dremel is good for small things, but for most of the bikeparts is a set like this better
