Blimey......painted lugs in a contrasting colour, now that takes me back a bit. Used to get a few coming through the bike shop in the early 70's.

Would the original have had "dropped" bars ?

the lugs have all been touched up by the previous owner (with a paint roller judging on the state of them!)

i think its "unitized" (what ever that means) 531 tubing

full spec as per catalogue is

Frame: patent "unitized" frame constructed by exclusive welding process of Reynolds "531" Butted tubing

Fork : "unitized" welded Reynolds "531" Butted tubing continental patten

BB: Bayliss-Wiley oilbath

handlebar: Binda alloy racing bend

cost including extras £32

shamelessly stolen from a Royal Enfield catalogue

i was thinking of stripping it an powdercoating a very pale green with white lugs, then reapplying decals (graphic designer in my work is currently tracing them)

but i dont know, im worried the frame is rusted, when you move the frame you can hear bits inside the tubes :(

Very nice, but you can't really call it a 'Bullet' with those bars can you !!??

Will you convert it back to a racing/touring setup ?

If you are having it sand/shot/bead blasted you will soon find out if it is ok.

If it comes back from that with a clean bill of health then get it powdercoated or painted, whichever you prefer. At the same time get the insides of the tubes treated with framesaver then enjoy the ride!
