quantity is no victory, especially when (as so many around here seem to do), the quantity is of similar low-mid end bikes. that money would be much better put into one stunner.

Not if you're interested in the high end stuff!

i was an inverse snob once too.

then i freed my mind and discovered the sublime purity of a craftsman-made bicycle

:-D

I'm not a snob about it, get over yourself! ;-)

I genuinely don't have much interest in the high end stuff, I rather enjoy trying out the huge variety of normally priced bikes.

Only thing I would like is a handbuilt British frameset one day, that'd be nice. :-D

The low to mid-end stuff can be just as fun, and just as important as the high-end retro bikes. I find that the low-end ones are often faster in the real world too, probably because we're more worried about thrashing a high-end bike than we are a cheap one.

That being said, my stable is quite small, but already big enough for me.

Riders :
1 modern Bulls
1 hopeless Trek
1 Sbike

Nearly finished :
1 Sbike

Frames :
3 Sbikes

That's 7 in total.

.....can i just add for the record, the photo's i attached were in no way an attempt to show off......my collection has evolved through a mix of concerted trawling, happening to be in the right place at the right time, box ticking from my halcyon memories of youth, pure luck and good old fashioned charity at times......some bikes i set out to own, some fell into my possession and enlightened me with their charms.....i posted here as you lot are my only empathetic audience, who wont ask me why i need more than one bicycle as do the rest of my family and friend circle......i see the attraction of owning high end kit and some of them fall into that bracket, but my first mtb was a low end Raleigh, that sewed the seed for the hobby that was to take over my non work moments for the next two decades, and i would leap at the chance to get that bike back again.....were i to go from that back onto my Litespeed, stumpy or Klein the difference would be obvious, but it wouldn't remove the experience.......i understand the quality over quantity argument, each to their own i guess......i can however guarantee that every one is ridden enjoyed, and cared for!..... :D
