Thank you for the help, I appreciate it. I wanted to look up all the parts and considering things I would like to change. I am not knowledgeable in the subject of specific bike parts however researching. The paint is ugly in my opinion, I am considering a flat black with glossy paint for the sections to replace decals. I also thought of making the frame white and the rest black accept for the rims and tire walls. I plan to put on some drop handlebars as I like riding road bikes as well but trying to get a happy medium with control. Maybe some all terrain tires? Like the poster below says, this bike is heavy and would be nice to lessen the load if it will help with performance and the speed. I will be going uphill quite often as I live on a alluvial fan. I could buy a new bike but I like this kind of project. That's what it is

The gt splatter paint of the period gets collectors hot under the collar though, I think it would be worth restoring the paint, it could be quite good.
It is certainly a heavy bike, which I can manage, however I am devising a way to lighten the load for the place I live.I had one of these in the white colour option. Back in 1991, god it was so heavy for little me.
