It certainly was. Although I think we were very lucky. I've had it pretty good in winter before but not as good as that. Though every morning I'd set off in longs and gilet but dumped them an hour later. I brought no summer stuff.

The locals stuck to sweaters and jackets though.

Aye, we always used to find it funny in Majorca. The Brits in training camps always wore shorts and short sleeves and the Spaniards would go out in thermal jackets. Guess its all relative .. one man's hot is another man's cold

i'm going to be riding tubs and taking a couple of spare vittoria rallye 21 tubs with me. does anyone know if it will be problem taking a couple of 30g tubes of tub glue on the plane in the hold luggage?

just take some tub tape so much easier

a very good point indeed! tub tape - that stuff used to cause the tubs to roll off on the bends! have they improved it any since the 80s?!

That's about 30ml per tube. If so you can take 100ml in your hand baggage. I've taken finish line chain lube that way and its no problem. I doubt very much if they will find it in your hold baggage though.

Remember though that the modern tub glue doesn't stay anywhere near as sticky as the old stuff used to, so you might need more if you get a few punctures and as you are riding on Vittoria Rally I would take a repair kit and put 100ml of good latex in them before hand.

If you can take nail varnish then you can take a bit of glue.

the trouble is, that i'm bloody fussy even about tub glue! it's got to be the vittoria stuff as that horrible orangey brown stuff never leaves the rims once applied! dreadful!

You could just mail a few bike shops in town?
Most of them are used to dealing with dirty foreign dogs............ sorry, tourists......... ;o)

Or just stick it in your bike bag/hold baggage.
I *doubt* they'll even know what it is.
I mean last time we went we took half a kilo of mysterious white powder each. They didn't even look at it.
