Pub bike

@Hornchurch Any photos of the Claud?

Hi Peachy - I was going to attach them to the other thread ('Boss Equipe') that you spoke to me on, like you asked.

But then I figured "Hot Damn" (Americanism !) - Might as well open a thread on it, itself. After all, it does deserve "it's own".

I'll do that sometime in the forthcoming week or so, but as you've asked, I'll put THESE (below), pix' out for now.

The 'Dark' (darker) photographs are from Neil, the Geezer I bought it from - (Picked it up this Saturday, 23rd April, from Essex)

The 'Bright' (coloured 'vivid') photograph of the 'crossbar' (Hammer LX), is of my own, which I bought in summer 1998

Both bikes ARE absolutely IDENTICAL in each & every way - I always wanted another & £37.50 is just a laughable price !

BTW ; When I eventually DO get round to opening a dedicated thread for it, where do I put it ?

It's arguably a 1997/1998 bike, meaning it's at the crossover point - I bought my first one in summer 1998.

I saw the third-section of the forum (MTB > Road-Bikes > Readers Own Bikes Post 1998 and thought it best to be put there ?

In the meantime, here's the pix' of Neil's bike (Hammer LX), which I picked-up this Saturday - Rides GREAT, better than mine, in fact !

Neil's has a few more dings & scratches on it (on the silver-frame-paint), with my frame, immaculate, but has been used (far) more.

Hope ya like it - Like I say, just £37.50 - My original IS most def' "A Pub Bike" & I've ridden-home half-pi$$ed, many a time !

Lemme know what ya think....

Pub riding is very popular popular here in the USA. The craft brew pubs are big bike hang outs and there can be swarms of them. Here is one local brew pub, Black Rocks Brewery. 6AD78710-071F-4F03-BA22-735337357690.jpeg
My pub bike was a home built beater. The twisted brown orangey rust 24 inch wheel sized frame was pulled out of a mine pit dump. The white fork was from a 26 inch wheeled bike and was bent. The crank and pedals were bent. The 24 inch rear wheel and 26 inch front were potato chips. The cheap steel side pull brakes were marginal as they were opened way up so the tocoed rims would clear. The bolt holding the brakes to the frame was loose so it could move side to side with the wheel wobble. The tires were weather checked worn away tread units. I never locked it as thieves always abandoned it a block away. Sadly the frame rusted through and separated where the down tube met the bb after many years of abuse.

I have the answer. Hop seltzer. It has carbonated water, hops and brewers yeast and is so much better than non alcoholic beer. It’s basically carbonated hop tea. Some of the brew pubs here serve it. The UK must have a version. You can also find a recipe on line to make it yourself. You can also get IPA versions.
