Proflex Returns

OK, maybe I'll make it my next project...

Just took a look at the Pro-Flex USA site. Is it just me or is it a little odd that they make rigid and road bikes? Not exactly putting the flex in Pro-Flex are they?

Just what the world needs...another curvy-tubed carbon POS made in asia for 37 dollars and tagged with a 37 hundred dollar price tag. Pass, thanks.

A mate of mine is setting up a new distribution company bringing in Proflex! as well as a few other bits.

Does this mean we all get a good discount then? :p

yes, a Catalonian company bought the Proflex USA brand 4 or 5 years ago (I couldn't afford it!!) after K2 Bike decided to reduce their investment in bikes. The new Proflex USA have been running XC racing teams for a while - I bumped into them at Fort William a few years ago - with their carbon framed hardtail bikes and , interestingly, one of the old Proflex-USA team trucks that I had last seen years and years ago on the Grundig WC circuit.

The press release from eurobike mentions a guy that I met years ago - who was instrumental in the old proflex's move into carbon frames - so I'm hoping that this isn't just-another-tiawanese-re-badging-job. So it sounds like it isn't just a brand purchase but might actually have some of the old team involved.

The full-sus frame on the site looks like an early draft K2 Razorback RS but unfortunately it isn't a single pivot frame

Not knowing the guy who is behind backing the business who owns another distribution company!

Had a look @ the Peformance MTB (Model 399)...

http://www.proflexusa.com/cat_mtb.php?series_id=5

"PERFORMANCE
Aluminium XC Bicycle. Balanced, light and sure, that adapts to all kind of routes. In 2009, we can enjoy big improvements in this series: lighter, better welds and components and cosmeticthan looks for the competition."

Inspiring trust in all pre-2009 welds...

IMO they just look like a raft of other mass produced full sussers. Pro-Flex always conjures up memories of bikes that were different and stood apart from the crowd. With no decals on I would defy most people to tell the difference at 20 ft between these bikes and Trek/Spesh/Scott etc.

Shame.

Still good luck to your mate! :)
