probably been done before but....... helmets? yes or no?

After a concussion when not wearing one, and a few bad spills with helmet, with no concussion, then for me the evidence is conclusive. Always wear one. Insist my kids do. Don't understand why my wife doesn't - but she does at least when riding with the kids.

Yes having seen the results of face plants with and without made it an easy decision for me. You would be surprised the amount of blunt force tauma a helmet can prevent.

At the end of the day it's personal preference and choice.

Though i find mine useful for deflecting low hanging branches and such too!

I always wear one - I've knocked myself out before when not wearing one, and administered first aid to people before who haven't worn them. It's down to personal preference at the end of the day, personally I feel naked without wearing one - a bit like being in a car without a seatbelt on...

I also always wear gloves after removing quite a lot of skin from both my palms in the past, at the same time as well! Not very nice!!

That's pretty much how I feel if I don't wear a lid...just doesn't feel right.

See plenty of videos of people riding massive trails on BMX, no lid, pads or anything and often with shorts on....little bit crazy of you ask me but I suppose it's all down to personal choice.

thanks for the views so far gents. I think i'm going to end up in the 'sometimes' camp - I'm not the greatest fan of hats at the best of times so i have a feeling a helmet will annoy the living daylights out of me BUT as I hopefully regain a bit of the balance, ability and confidence i had when i was a nipper I should hopefully feel a tad safer with a lid rather than without.

On road -Not usually.More likely it will be a taxi or bus or even a prick in a white van, head trauma is the least of your worries if your paralyzed,i'd rather not know about the distressing state im in,i'd rather be unconscious throughout.
Off road-Most definitely ,too many trees

Always with one, saved me from a outer chainring inserting itself through my skull when i was 13... and i used to hate the fact my father made me wear it. think fluro pink MET effort in early 1990's
