Ha, I'm with you Greencat as it happens, and for the riding I do, it's really not worth the expense of discs, unless of course they came on the bike and worked perfectly. Even then, I prefer V's because I'm so old school and I love the simplicity - even the bog standard LX ones I have have served me so well, there's no point changing.
Which brings me back to my initial post, which was really a bit tongue in cheek as I doubted I would ever get a 'new' or newer bike, but was thinking maybe there is something in this 29"er business, and expected to be pointed that way, but actually as we have established, it wouldn't be the best choice for me anyway, because of my height, weight, etc.
And then I realise how much I love rigid, single speed, retro stuff, and I think thereby I have my answer!! :facepalm:
