Press fit BB removal.

I've not had a chance to try, but will a headset removal tool also work as a press fit BB removal tool? The tool in question is the flared tube to punch out a headset.

I think we use an expanding cone style tool on the 1st bearing, and large amounts of care.
Second bearing can easily be removed square.

If you have to apply force to the bearing inner edge, to overcome the fit on the outer edge, we would regard the bearing as toast.
Sometimes the bearing disintegrates under the force, which makes a nice straight extraction very difficult.

The tool should click up against the BB shell so bearings should be fine unless the tool isn't located correctly. Right? Certainly the case for headsets.

Sometimes there's no shell, and the outer edge is completely hidden behind the locating ridge.
To push the bearing out, you're usually applying a force it wasnt designed to withstand.
Some of those integrated headset bearings disintegrate before coming out.
They are definitely not being refitted!
