Post up your tenuous links to 'famous' people.

Not a blood relative but my - let's make sure I've got this right - Great Uncle's wife's (my great aunt I guess) cousin was Rocky Marciano.

Oh, and I know a guy who know's a guy who lived next door to Margaret Thatcher and a guy who since moved to the USA who has an uncle or somesuch who is related to a former big boss (I mean THE big boss) of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC).

The strangest one I know of isn't anyone famous but one of my uncles (big family) has a cousin who's wife's brother lives chained up in a bamboo shed (Thailand or some place like that) because the villagers believe he is possessed by the devil - he suffers from epilepsy. That was a many years ago so I hope things have changed since then!

My wife played viola in the orchestra they used to rehearse for that "who wants to be a conductor?" (or whatever they called it) competition on the BBC a couple of years ago. One of the contestants was Goldie (the DJ, not the Blue Peter dog), he's married to Zoe Ball so I persuaded her to ask him if he could get Johnny Ball's autograph for us.

He didn't take it very well, apparently he like to think he and Zoe are more famous than her dad.

Maybe it was you confusing him with Fatboy Slim that he didn't take kindly to...

I wondered what it was all about when she said he was upset. That would explain it.

These youths all sound the same to my ancient ears.

That would explain it.

One more while I remember. Another ex-flatmate was handy with a needle and thread, and used to earn a few quid on the side altering clothes, making the odd wedding dress, etc.

He also used to sew hidden pockets into Derren Brown's jackets when Derren was still a struggling semi-professional magician on the Bristol party circuit, not yet the international superstar he is today.

I have a famous link to a tenuous person (or people!).

My uncle was the Brigadier in Dr Who and my cousin was Joy in Drop the Dead Donkey (and Ballykissangel, Midsomer Murders, Weetabix advert etc etc!!)

and my Mum was asked out by Richard Burton when she was 16 (and he was considerably older!!)

oh and even more tenuous we can trace our family back to the Earl of Warwick (Warwick the Kingmaker)
