I know this has been covered before, but I'm wondering the best way to polish up my FS. Is it annodised or Laquered? There is no flaking or cracking, just fine scratches. I started to polish a bit under the top tube but it seemed to take ages to polish to a mirror finish. Is it gonna be a job Ill regret starting?

Ok I have started to rub it down with 400 but it is taking a very long time to get through the top layer so I assume it is annodised. Any suggestions on the best way to tackle this?

It's definetely anodised, i know because i tried to strip the top tube on mine with Nitromorse and got nowhere, Nitromorse will remove laquer but not anodising, you need drain cleaner/unblocker from B&Q, brush it on the same as Nitromorse, be very carefull with this stuff though as it'll burn to the bone, also may be a good idea to mask off any bits of the frame you dont want to strip as any splashes will cause marks.

Once you get the anodising off go over it with a Brillo soap pad (used wet) then polish it with Autosol.

This is turning in to a big job! I only needed a seat to finish it off, but thought it could do with a buff up. Ill get some drain cleaner tomorrow and give it a go. I dont think the oven cleaner touched it :?

Instant Power heavy duty drain opener is the stuff i used, awesome stuff, it comes in a yellow bottle from B&Q, even with this though it's still a job to get the frame gleaming like a mirror, worth it though.

Well it's in a sorry state now so there's no turning back. But on the bright side, it will look spectacular when(if) I eventually finish it
