That's not finished but I'm using Autosol and fine wire wool.

A couple of hours to do both arms. (The left arm was worse, as someone had previously tried to polish using something too abrasive.)

When I've done cranks before, I gently use a file to remove any gouges. Then 320 grit paper (wet) to remove any corrosion and factory ano.

Then gradually work your way through 600 then 800 and finally 1200 grit paper for a lovely smooth finish.

Final polish up with plenty of autosol and they should come up really nice..

After polishing do you needs to put anything on them to prevent corrosion? As the wet and dry will remove the anodising that previously protected them?

Yeah I use a clear polish/wax for cars. Not a creamy/gritty one as this'll just act more like a mild autosol.

Halfords used to do a product called wet wax. Don't know if they still do it, I bought mine years ago... it's like a clear gel and when I've applied it to my polished items it lasts a good few rides without any signs of tarnishing.

Thats some great work guys. Does polishing them up really affect their price? About what do a worn pair go for versus a re-polished one?
