Any recommendations on polishing xt x730 silver cranks?
Techniques and methods, products used?

Various grades of wet n dry , followed by autosol or another metal polish and polishing wax.. and lots of elbow grease..

Other option is a 'polishing mops' kit from ebay and an electric drill. Typically comes with 3 different 'mops', a couple of bars of polish and a taper for mounting the mops to the drill.

Dont use sand paper of any kind OR wire wool :x

If you class wet n dry as sand paper I would question that ?

It depends if you want to get any deep scrathes out too. Wirewool and autosol and ruined rubber gloves and numb fingers for 2 days.

I`m looking into doing this now too. Isn`t it necessary first to take the anodising off with oven cleaner or lye before sanding and polishing?

I start with 400 grit wet and dry using water[spit] as a lube.Then on to 800,then 1000,1200 + so on.
Then on to OOOO grade wire wool
Finally autosol metal polish on a soft cloth

Try to work in the one direction only.
