Polishing aluminium?

If it's polished to a high standard then there will not be any key for the clearcoat or powder to stick to :-(

WD :D

I know that most folks use Autosol for polishing aluminium, I have some Weldtite metal polish.

Has anyone else used it? how would you say it compared to Autosol?

wax it after polishing - will help it last longer
Were you spying on me last night whilst I was waxing the KHS

Alochrome or Surtec it. It's a process to provide a key for painting. Lacquer just comes off cranks, i know that from experience. Electroless Nickel Plating may be an option but Nickel is extremly brittle. This means if you have any flex in the part you can get cracks. Re-anodising is worth looking at if you have a pure aluminium part, I can't reanodise my cranks due to the steel axle, the sulphuric used eats the steel. Best option would be a 50um Hard anodised coating.

Hello

Thanks for all the info , may just get them painted as i have no time to polish my bike bits all the time , as it is hard enough to look after my dh bike anyways.
Also i have OCD so i would be constantly polishing it.

Thanks for all the info

Jason
