polishing a Titanium frame, what ya usuing?

hey all

What are folk Using to polish there titanium frames? i was going to beed blast but maybe ill try polishing it first.

ive tryed scotchbrite but that made it dull?

what ya usuing folks?

I used Autosol on mine - worked a treat. - goes dull at first them you buff it off.

Depends on the original finish. Most were beed blasted so a gentle scrub with scotchbrite in a circular motion with lemon juice works well. If there are areas of wear (ie cable rub) the only way is to bead blast it again. Some frames were left with a brushed finish- so again use the scotchbrite but follow the grain. Ti is supposed to be a dull finish, don't try and get it shining too much.

It's important that you understand that Xizangs were polished to a mirror finish, any kind of abrasive (like scotchbrite, steel wool) is going to dull that surface, not improve it. I found Mother's (or Autosol if you're in the UK), soft rags and lots of elbow grease is the only way to restore the factory finish.

Take it to a proper metal polisher and he'll make it like a mirror for not too much money.
Professional job, with far less hassle and time.
