Good afternoon ..
Some sad news I am afraid..
Yesterday morning Thursday 24/0/22 {early hours} Pip passed away peacefully at a hospice in the Worcester area. He was being cared for by his sister and brother in law in his final weeks.
Hilly his sister did say that "a send off" would be held in Thatcham area for all his local friends etc
As soon as I know the details date/time/location I will update you all
Thank you for your time
Ernie

Made such a huge contribution to RB. I don't think there was another person on the planet that knew as much as him about the Kona brand. Literally every time I have searched for info on older Kona bikes I'm directed to a thread where Pip has imparted his knowledge. I never met him but I was lucky to own one of his frames, a beautiful mint Kona Kula.

Respect Pip, thanks bud 👍

Although I never had any direct contact with Pip and despite that fact that I'm not really a Kona fan I still knew who he was. He was a legend here because of the immense contribution he made, people who share their knowledge and wisdom so generously is what helps to make this site so special and sets it apart from others out there, this site will miss his presence and be poorer for his absence, although in some way his amazing contribution will live on here and his legacy will no doubt be of great interest to and helpful for countless people in the future, who knows how many he already helped and that number will continue to grow.

Condolences to his family and friends.

I am a newcomer to the forum and never really had any sort of interaction with Pip, but his dedication and passion shun through in every post he made, and I, like countless others have benefited from his great wealth of knowledge about Kona bikes, and reading through his nearly there thread, he came across as a guy who knew what he liked and he seemed like a great character.

My sincerest condolences to his family and friends (of which I know there are many of on Retrobike)

Gutted to hear. I knew pip back from the 90s when he frequented the bikeshop I worked in. Well known chap in Newbury parts. We exchanged a few messages last year to catch-up and I always enjoyed his love of Kona. The Tony Iommi story definitely a highlight !

His updates were so real and so honest, and at times heart breaking to read. But hey, he had some great passion for the things he loved in life, and thats something we should all aim for.

Hanging out here is one. RIP Pip 🙏
