It’s Dornoch beach, a five minute walk from the house. Not a soul to be seen for the sunrise this morning although there was still a touch of frost in the air.

I’m 58 this year, have never had a pet, never wanted a dog…. 14 weeks ago our neighbours dogs had a litter of 9 pups, lab dad and cocker mum, and my Mrs appeared one evening after work and plopped this tiny creature on my chest….

She is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

And better than any antidepressants!!
