Another P7…. was a 1995 racer, will be a PMX [March Update]

Soooo, I've had a bit of a brainwave.

Rather than have the 1 1/8 bit at the base of the steerer turned down to 1 inch, I've had the thought to use 1 1/8 spacers on it to essentially build it to the width of the crown race. It has a bit of a bevel on it so would likely need to go a bit higher, but the crown race would then sit on the spacer.

One for the weekend, and a rummage through my headset parts.

Right, bit of an update.

I can’t get the vectors to work. Gutted. It would mean machining the bottom cup an that’s too much like hard work when I realise that the steerer is really too long for the petite head tube on the P7.

So, what’s a guy to do? It’s a parts bin bike, and I didn’t want to spend a huge amount.

Yep. Bought some AMP forks. Doh!

Always wanted some, and they look awesome. Never ridden a pair, but this is taking a twist. Also picked up a NOS Uno stem for pennies so the fork can be test mounted. Running short on bars, and an Easton Monkey bar I had lying around is too fat. Annoyingly I’ve just moved on some Club Roosts that would have been perfect.

So here’s how she’s sitting:

That’s a bit different and for that reason I love it!
