Pets

It be yesterday. A stressful day. Down The Pastures, on our morning walk, Peggy, investigating a hedge, flushed a dozen or so French Partridge. The call of the wild brought the shutters down and she disappeared after them. After searching for a couple of hours I returned home distraught and Peggyless. Bike gear on and back out on a bike.

I returned to the area, trying to think dog. Criss-crossing fields and land I shouldn't be on - nothing new there - but to no avail. Riding miles and miles in circles, clearly not succeeding with understanding dog logic. After another couple of hours I returned home a second time, exhausted...

10 hours later... Peggy puts in an appearance on FB, looking the worse for wear, a couple of miles away from where I last saw her. She'd only been found about 10 minutes before the post was made!

After speaking with the couple who very kindly apprehended her and took her to a local 24 hour vet. They brought her back after identifying her chip. I opened the back door of their car, Peggy struggled to sit up. I squatted down and a very lethargic, and smelly, Peggy licked my face and leant against me. I sobbed. I was shocked at how much I'd missed her.

She's slept most of today, is still feeling sorry for herself, and is very clingy. A huge relief...
