People using American words.

Re:

The use of the word 'Dude' annoys me more that it should.

On another point, I was walking down the road in PZ and was stopped by a young lady asking if I would like to join Greenpeace, I said I have been a member for years and she said ''High five'' and put her hand in the air.... I had to say I'm nearly fifty I don't do that, then walked away with her still standing there with one hand still in the air.

I also have never met a Yank I haven't liked, which is odd because I'm a miserable git!!

I had a sat nav that told me to take the 2nd exit of the rotary and join the freeway.....so I threw it out.

Ass.

He's still learning the correct idiomatic English, but a Canadian pal of mine now regularly uses the word arse... couldn't be arsed, ride the arse off it, bunch of arse... which is most excellent to hear.

Apart from the annoying bastardisation of the English language, I would have to agree with al.

I visit the states at least once a year and have always found most Americans to be quite decent, positive and genuine people.

Well, it's got nothing to do with what American people are like, it's the different pronunciation and different use of words :D
I like the Americans I've ever met :)

At my old house there was a family who emigrated to here from San Francisco.
They were great.. why they moved here though have no idea.

Also, my Great Aunt lived in America for most of her life, I was about 10 when I first met her and her accent seemed funny to me at the time.

"And our ground floor is their first floor?"
That's a good one! I get into arguments with my wife (who is American) all the time about how nonsensical that is. It's on the ground level! You start numbering once it starts going up... also it took me a very long time to get used to the reversed dating system in the states (month, day, year... why? the logical succession is day, month ,year).
I usually try not to run my mouth too much though, I might end up sounding like that smug Euro prick that's telling everyone how much better things are on the other side of the ocean... sorry American people I'm not hating on you! (some things don't make sense sometimes though)

Re:

Computing is filled with English people speaking in an American accent/pronunciation, mainly the younger lot who just think it is 'correct' because of youtube.
