The great thing about programmes like this being served up in the manner of BFGW, Benefits Street, et al, is that it normalises the issue.

Very few people are scared of the subject now, compared to thirty years ago, when the era of the 'life style choice', 'sexual preference' excuses came to an end.

That has to indicate progress.

I'm not sure that it does - it makes the scenarios seem more widespread than they actually are and in some cases provokes knee jerk reactions both from the "burn the paediatricians" mobs and from the let's revoke all our civil rights approach CallMeDave and HerrMay advocate.

I can't really see that these 'scenarios' were given any estimated frequency, in that documentary at least. We weren't given stats as to how many people use the internet chat sites in question, versus how many were trying to engage with under age 'decoys'.

If anything, I think society has brushed all this under the carpet for a generation and only now are we addressing what appears to be a very widespread phenomenon.

The key word there is appears which leads to drqconia actions at the expense of ordinary people. Just look at all the fish around stripping jihadists of the right to enter the country. Or using terror laws against journalists rightfully challenging the extent at which we are being spied on with no judicial oversight.

Or more on track the fact that you get checked to a ludicrous level just to read in a school setting or coach Saturday morning footy.

If we keep making legislation on appearances without decent debate which is what th e current crop of politicians do well sleep walk in a a survaillance society that will make East Germany under the stasi look like a kids playground. All because we need to "think of the children".

Speaking as a victim,

You also speak for the rest of us....
Everything you say is true for me too, howeveer the one thing i want in life more than anything right now, and probably won't change, is to know what happened to him, where he is, and that he is no longer up to no good. I'd love to find him and juat let him know that I know where he is.... Nothing more, just so that he remains unsettled
