Paypal Fees

Also sorry if this is common knowledge

Ok I notice a few of you don't want to take Paypal & I can understand as they that the pi$$ with there fees, but there is a way to send a Paypal payment without fees, if you have money in your Paypal account you can send it as a gift, the only thing is it does not let you put your address on there & you would have to trust the seller as you would have no way of claiming.

I presume though that it is only good for people that you trust though - I can't see Paypal offering any compensation if the item doesn't turn up?

Thats right, it is supposed to be used for sending a gift .

This way there are no fees paid by anyone, but you must have money in your Paypal account or they will charge you.

I was trying to work out how to do that the other day - didn't realise it was via gift.

Why not just add the fees (3.6% [?] , though I round it up to 4% when paying) to the amount you send?

Or just put up with the fees,unless you would rather go back to a cheque or postal order,3-5 days clearing time, a journey down to the bank/PO
and this is for uk stuff, when ordering from abroad the hassles multiply by 10
I vote for paypal
life would be much harder without it[and id have to wait longer to get my latest toys

I put up with the fees only because i deal in small amounts. If it's a large amount then cash is the only way

Incidently, if you are going to use the gift feature of paypal, why not just do an online bank transfer? Most banks are instant now. I hear people saying they don't like giving their bank details out, but all that information (and more, like signiture!!) is on a cheque anyway :roll: and what can someone do with a sort code and account number...... not much except pay some cash in

Internet banking is free and quick and convenient.


(Most banks offer it for free) - Aliance and Leicester and also HSBC I bank with have these systems in place. It takes minutes to do and its free. Enough said.

So true. Don't use paypal :evil:
