I get what you're saying - but the thing is...... in your pic there is no tension on the springs. The adjusters are dead upright. If you tried to tension them up you are winding up the spring more. They're only small springs but are really fat square wire so they end up with 'coil bind' very quickly.

If you fit the springs the other way round like the OP (and I) do, then when you tension the adjuster nuts the springs unwind and make space for themselves rather than binding up.

I do agree that it LOOKS wrong and kinda messy that way, but trust me - you can tension them up best that way.

You know I'm gonna have to swap all the springs over on my bikes now just to make sure !!!

Wish I'd never clicked on this thread ! My brakes work perfectly on both bikes and now I'm gonna take them to pieces just to prove to myself that the springs bind up if they're on the other way round :facepalm:

I think I just had the small o ring on incorrectly
Not sure I like the design but let's see what the performance is like

Exactly that which that man says up there, the springs should coil tighter and smaller to create tension, and will then sit neatly on the pivot. In your picture in the first thread, the springs are expanding to create tension, which I would say is the greatest contributor to the "untidy" look, and the springs being at a funny, untidy, angle. Hope you're happy with the end result!
