Paul's Motolite experts

Their should be 7 parts for the pivot ( excl arm )
"O" rings x 2
pivot bush
spring
Spring adjuster
thin washer
allen bolt ( 20mm thread length )

the spring is also the wrong side as Roy said.

Re:

springs seem to be on correctly from what i can find on google, but i'm no expert in these!

Re:

Install the steel collars first, with the collars curved end towards the seat stays / fork legs i.e. bottom in this pic.

Then slide the small O rings over the collars down to the bottom. There is a shoulder on the collar that stops them going too far.

Then slide the arm over the collar

Then fit the bigger O ring in the rebate on the outside of the arm.

Then fit the springs and adjuster nuts.

The springs are correct in your pics - at least thats how I run them on both my bikes that have these brakes.

edit: I also reckon your bolts are too long. The back of the adjuster nuts need to sit on the outer ends of the steel collars. I'd also recommend making sure everything is completely clean and also greasing the collars, arms, O rings really well - all the bits involved in the 'pivot' movement.

Re:

okay, well i'm gonna be contrary and play devil's advocate and say that the springs are sided wrongly.

the way you save them set up on you specialised they are not pulling away from the wheel correctly.....

check-out how they sit in this pic.....
