Back in my Orbit..
Having had a friend and myself poke around in it, I'm glad to say its issues are superficial.
The internal coatings are pretty much intact, save a little bit of flaking in the bottom section of the bottom bracket shell, where most old frames show a little 'patina'. Applying the croft logic of 'leave it 'til you can make a proper job of it seems to be proven once again.
It's now decided, to go ahead and strip it, dip it and treat it to new paint. Another thirty years hopefully. At 57, that won't be with me..
One day here on RB we may nail it. That looks really usable, serviceable, but retaining patina.
I'm so happy a BMX is thrown here in the discussion. That saddle is also gorgeous - just look at it
It's hard to say if "good" patina is a result of only neglect and just natural time decay vs. being trashed and just a junk pile, but somehow something pleasing can show if nothing is too abused.
