Pat Hanlon bike pending auction

Hi please find photos of my Pat Hanlon bicycle frame number:14070 it's due for auction via EBay starting 25/05/2014 finishing 1/06/2014, this is an opportunity to purchase an original, authentic lightweight retro racing bike. I'm afraid any technical questions with regards to the bike are lost with me due to my ignorance on the subject, the bike was my fathers pride and joy, it was originally black and white and the seat was a Brooke's and not a San Marco Rolls as pictured the rest I think is as standard from Pat some 40/45 years ago. I haven't even the time to clean her up but if it's for her quality retro parts or for a restoration she could be yours come the 1st of June. Thank you for looking.

Hi, honestly I have know idea how much it worth due to its age, quality and rarity. I've spoken (on a Pat Hanlon forum) to a fantastic guy who has restored one of these beautiful machines and he could only surmise it's value, so my starting price I've tried to keep realistic in line with similar items I've seen on this site and his advice (£275). I'm based in Pease Pottage, Crawley, West Sussex anyone is welcome to view her prior to end of auction on 1st July. Thank-you for your interest.

I would just council caution about describing the whole bike as being "authentic" to the period of the frame.

If memory serves, from the late 60's Pat Hanlon frames were stamped with the year of manufacture which in this case would be 1970, which seems right given the frame which has sparse braze ons and italian influence.

I left working in a bike shop in 1978 but the Front and rear mech look like the 980 series from the 1980's, the brakes look like 1980 items as well, the chainset may also be later.

The Weinmann concave wheels again might be difficult to place at 1970...by the time I was working in the 70's we could buy these off the shelf and we (and I guess Pat Hanlon) concentrated on more bespoke wheels for road / time trial etc.

Thanks for your advice my ignorance is evident with regards to the bike's history and proof of authenticity, that's why I've tried to gather evidence from this site and refer the bike to enthusiasts like your self, for help thank you. When (if) the bike is sold on EBay on the 1st of June I'm sure the purchaser will of decided the bikes degree of authenticity reflected by their final bid. Many thanks for your information.
