painful ride!!!

I went out on my usual morning ride today and was really enjoying myself till it went pete tong!! came to a part of my ride a short steep 50 metre uphill in a highish gear top chainring on the front and about 4th on the back, standing up powering up like a beast........next thing i'm in a heap on the bars..... the chain had jumped off the big chainring, i smashed my toes into the tarmac and knee into my platform pedal!! resulting in blood pouring down my leg from a gash in my knee and my toes throbbing like something from a cartoon!! now i've got a big toe nail a lovely shade of purple!!!! i still finished my ride another 4 miles, but not a very good start to the day!!!

think my proflex 857 may need the front mech set up checked!!!

Its got platform pedals with those little screw in grub screw things!!!! cut my knee and a nice piercing on my knee cap!!! that does'nt hurt now but my toe is throbbing like a beast!!!!

I did a very similar thing a few years ago only the number 1 ring on the back of a mega-range casset decided to just fold like paper over to one side under the strain. Very painfull when your putting max power through the pedal and suddenly there free spinning.

Ouch!

Flat pedals are my preferred choice, but the risk of turning my shin to ribbons is always in the back of my mind! Luckily (touch wood) it's only ever happened to me a couple of times.

The most dramatic failure I had was when I was racing DH, and my front wheel fell to pieces just as I'd hit the ground after launching off a fly-off. I spent what felt like a lifetime going over the bars and through the air, only to find that the side of the track dropped away down a VERY steep rocky slope.

Guess where I was headed?!?

Thank god for Dainese and Troy Lee ;)

bad buzz mate!

my chain snapped uphill a while back and I still have a 'new knuckle' on one of my ribs from where the bar end went into it!

ouch.

if pain in toe perisist have it checked out by a specialist, such as a doctor.
