Pace...where's it all going?

That is a shame and a crappy bi-product of foreign take over.

How much of the original Pace company was the fork division? Quite a significant proportion I guess.

However the point i tried to make still appears to be valid, if Pace start selling a good number of these framesets, even though they are manufactured abroad jobs would still likely be created in sales, warehousing, shipping and distribution here in the UK.

Take a look at companies like On One and Singular this is exactly the same business model. I think I'd still like to give my money to a company based in the UK than abroad.But dont get me wrong I have loads of admiration for the guys still making stuff here such as Hope which are one of my favorites and I will plump for Hope stuff where available.

Ehh? I thought the question in the OP related to whether Pace lost its way in producing new fangled but retro styled frames rather than anything particularly innovative.

The 13 pages of this topic (with the odd exception)have in general discussed a company from way back and whether it has sold / lost its soul by not innovating (not retro in anyway) or by following the current trend for retro styling and materials. And the very fact its got to 13 pages would indicated to me some people want to discuss it.

Surely if all that’s going to be discussed is pre 98 then conversation is soon going to run dry or be regurgitated ad nauseum. Maybe the OP was in the wrong place but maybe not as it was posted by an elder of the community and not a newb.

Pace Cycles now consist of Adrian, Cathy and Josh who does the servicing[my old job]. Pace are no longer importers of DT Swiss stuff which is now controlled totally by Madison.

That's very sad Tim. The RC40's you made for me back in 2005 were the best forks I've ever had. Why did they sell out? Must have been money in the forks?? :? Who was the other chap that started the firm with Adrian and where's he got to?

Anyway, gives you more time to fix all our old RC35's (inc mine when I finally send them )

Duncan the ex Pace framebuilder and ex partner with Adrian split out of Pace around '97/'98 just before I started. He did'nt like where the company was going! He now produces high spec parts for classic motorcycle trial bikes in his workshop in a village near here.

I try my best to keep the old Pace stuff going

Duncan, that's him Is he still into MTB's? I guess he was right about the company in tyhe end. What direction did he want to go in Tim? Keep the company small scale?
