Pace RC36 with lockout

I have somePace RC36 with lockouts and the steer tube is 30mm, a wee bit too small for a 1 1/8 of course, any way I can convert this to fit a conventional 1 1/8 chris king headset?

Re:

You should be able to replace the steerer for a 1 1/8 version as long as a) crown has removable steerer, and b) the crown is a 1 1/8 version (or even 1 1/4) and has a reducer shim for the current steerer.

If these are all true, then you need to find a suitable pace steerer and the crown race shim for the headset race, as pace steerers are straight so you need this to create the taper.

If I've misunderstood and you just need a longer steerer, then thats all you'll need. If you already have a 1 1/8 steerer tube that is long enough, but your headset race doesn't fit, you may just need the crown race shim.

Sorry yep the steer is long enough and won’t take a conventional 1 1/8 crown race so, will need to look for a steer tube shim... Are these common items I have never seen something like it before.

Re:

It’s not simply that you are missing the small bit that the crown fits onto on Pace forks is it?

Re:

My explanation was pants, I don’t know where I got 30mm from turns out it’s 28. Something although smaller than 1 1/8 I hope these pictures help, sorry for the confusion!

Above isn’t a measurement just showing the points on the calliper

Again sorry for the confusion don’t know where I got some of the number previously quoted from haha

Re:

If the last pic is of your forks, all you need to do is slide the race shim up and off the steerer, turn it 180 degrees and slide it all the way back down the steerer. That's the crown race shim and your bb crown race will slot over the top.

Job done, no need for anything extra.

Sorry that little ring is just the compression ring, when the crown race is placed on there’s a little bit of wiggle, I’m used to having to set the crown race snug, but this has play ever so slightly perhaps like 0.1 / 0.2 mm it’s really weird

Maybe it has worn over time as it is after all a thin piece of alloy. Agree play is not wanted or desirable.
