Just a quickie here, I'm considering buying a pair of pace RC35's, but I wanted to know why I should opt for the Pace over the RS Mag 21's I already have.

What advantages do the Pace give me over the RS? (on my dynatech MT4)
in terms of;

weight
longevity and build quality
durability
ride

And what advantages do the RS have?

Is it worth my while? (I'd have to change the steerer if I want to continue using my threaded Mavic Headset which I do like - or else ditch it and get myself another AHead threadless type.)

Any thoughts? As I;ve trawled the Net and cannot find anything of use.

I've got an RC35 on my Orange and a Mag 21 SL Ti on a GT Pantera. To be honest, I prefer the RC35. It's dead easy to service, looks much less weedy, and is less wobbly. The Mag 21 is probably smoother and more adjustable without swapping elastomers/wine gums around.

British bike.... British fork......that's what I'd do!

You can get pretty much any spare for a set of 35s irresepective of model/year direct from Pace. earlier Rockshox stuff is getting harder to find.

......PACE look loads cooler as well IMO.

Thanks guys, seems that I should buy one and replace the Mags
but a slight issue

I have a threaded Mavic headset - how would I attach a non threaded steerer column to the threaded headset? can the steerer be replaced?
Is it easy to? or inexpensive?

I don't want to replace my headset as i really like it, and have just invested in a nice new stem as well -.

Any advice would be most appreciated!

Yip.....put a wanted/swap add up. Likely more people will want a non threaded than a threaded anyway.

Alternatively try contacting member justbackdated (Tim) on here. He runs a business called fork english that is the next best (best IMO) alternative to going directly to Pace. He may have some steerers available.

Good choice of headset btw!!

Threaded RC35 steerers should be available. You may even get a new one from Pace.

The fork I'm looking at, just found out, has a 1 1/8 " threaded steerer tube 140mm long.

My head tube is 125mm long.

How do i solve this riddle?
Still a new steerer from Pace?

If you need the tube longer then yip that is the best solution......assuming you read my response above :D

 Course man, I read your response!
:)
My headtube is shorter, 125mm, and the steerer tube on the Pace is 140mm long.

Just wondering what to do - I checked pace's site and they have :

1 1/8″ Threaded steel; total length 240mm including amount which goes into crown. Thread length is 60mm; £29.95

1″ Threaded steel; sizes 135/170/200mm; £29.95 (these lengths refer to amount of steerer above crown)

Totally confused! :(

If its threaded down past the length you need then just cut it. Or post in the steerer swap thread on here and see if there's one your length and someone after the length you got.
