Pace RC100

Both too knackered for me.

I didn't think we'd reached that point where the resto project was worth more than the museum display piece.
My thoughts too … love following the fully ‘Mary Rose’ retro restoration / preservation threads on here by the many skilled mechanical engineering members of this forum.
A question for any Pace experts , am intriged to see a to my eyes a later era Chris King ‘no thread’ headset with otherwise original looking RC100 specification parts. Thought Pace modified Mavic used headsets - maybe this is later replacement part? - which seems odd to me as Mavic headsets are super fine and brilliantly engineered - with replacemen5 sub assemblies etc. Not a critcism of the bike being offered on ebay - just curious if anybody knows more on headset choices?

I could see this going to someone who wants to get their teeth into a full resto. Not cheap but it does have a fair bit going for it - the fact that there’s no cracks to the frame is a big plus. Price wise it’s hard to say, the market will decide I guess, he’s had it from new so you know it won’t be given away cheap!
If anyone on here does get it - I have a set of the correct wheels if they’re needed. ;)

I have seen RC100s supplied with a few different types of headsets but not King. My own came with a 105 headset from the factory. I'm sure there is a bit more to it but basically it's a normal threaded headset with the threads machined out and the lock nut disgarded. So it's then effectively an aheadset and no reason you couldn't replace it with an actual aheadset at a later date, which is probably what happened here. When you think about it these were well ahead of their time with the headset setup, two piece cranks and hydraulic brakes. All things that later became the norm.
