You're doing a great job mate, they look mint!

It'll be worth all the effort when you're putting them onto the bike - trust me! :D

Cheers Gio, I'ts a labour of love, I'm sure it will be when they are being fitted, I've haven't used toe clips in 20 years !

And those pedals just look like SEX to me in polished form...

Cheers Carl
It's very gratifying when the shine comes through, tbh I'm still getting over your Stratos build, that really is exceptional, looks even better covered in mud ! :D

Cheers but I'm sure I'm no where near the benchmark seeing some of these bikes on here, this is my first build and I have to say I'm enjoying every minute of it ! :D

Re: Overbury's Pioneer - Built in Bristol runs like clockwor

Frame is in primer !!!!!!!!! :D

After spending many, many hours polishing my used XT crank arms getting all the scratches an strike marks out of them, an opportunity arose to obtain a set of NOS 1989 cranks, as I was going to replace the middle ring and my existing rings were round SG 90-91 and I needed the right dust caps, I thought why not ( thank you Mr Ship ) !

Proper egg rings ! :D

Re: Overbury's Pioneer - Built in Bristol runs like clockwor

Got the pedal cages and crank arms back from the anodisers, very pleased with the result, had to re-do the logos in white Tamiya white paint, I chose to use an acrylic paint as it's water soluble so I could remove any excess easily.

I polished up the centres and refitted the cages with new stainless steel countersunk machine screws, a very reasonable £4.86 for 20 inc postage from GWR fasteners !
The original Shimano screws were tatty and had rust coming through so they needed replacing.

Crank arms are to be built back up and sold !

Bloody hell Martin, they look great!! I know that you've spent plenty of time polishing and obviously the money on anodising, bolts etc but it's all been worth it. I reckon you wouldn't see much change from £100 if you found some like that on ebay.

Re: Overbury's Pioneer - Built in Bristol runs like clockwor

Cheers Adrian, I'm chuffed how they turned out, bit of work but they look nearly new, couldn't afford a NOS pair !

Re: Overbury's Pioneer - Built in Bristol runs like clockwor

How on earth did you manage to paint the logos in? Did you just drip it in and let it run around?
