I didn't win this !
I had a very close look at this bike and it raised a number of questions .
Firstly its a hybrid ie. it has 700c wheels , in fact Mavic Module 4 rims laced to Shimano Deore Q/R hubs
with rustless spokes . The rims are really quite old , and why not stainless spokes like other Overburys ?
I was not aware of Overburys ever making a hybrid , however it is undoubtedly the real thing and appears
to have had virtually no use . The V-brakes appear to be totally original from new and are Shimano Deore
and match all the other components . However the rear brake hanger ( for cantilevers ) is still in place ?
There is also a hole in the stem , so maybe cantilevers were fitted ?
The paint finish is powder coat denoting a later production , all the earlier bikes were wet painted
The seat post is way down , I could not get near enough to free it as it was hanging from the ceiling ,
judging from the general condition of the bike I would say it has been carefully stored and doubt
there will be a problem
Pedals are Shimano XT in mint condition , and the thumb shifters are early Shimano ( 1986 ? )
So its not a Pioneer and has components from a wide range of dates ( at least 10 years ) so
in many ways its typical Overburys . Nonetheless it should give you a lot of pleasure
It will be interesting to date the various components
Lastly the reason I placed a bid .................... The Dennis the Menace bell !
