Be absolutely chuffed and say thanks - then mention it might be a bit small but she wasn't to know. You'll try it and replace it with the correct size in the exact bike if it turns out you need a bigger one.

Truth is always best...

Be grateful you've got an awesome Mrs.

Ride it, and mention that it's a *BIT* small. Meanwhile, keep an eye out for a frame that's an EXACT match in the size you want.

:D

well a big thank and a taller seatpost;D
mine registered here in RB just to buy me for xmas the rock shox sid I wanted.. : ))))

unless it's a returnable bike then keep your gob shut..act all made up then 6 months down the line either strip it and find the right size frame to refit...or sell it but take her out to dinner with some of the proceeds

You must be chuffed to bits. If it is too small, replace the frame at your leisure, will she notice? Even if she does, you'll have replaced it like for like so no harm done. As said before though, honesty is the best policy and of it were me, I'd say I was going down that road.

I'll have to try this diplomacy!

I'll try it but i had an 18" specalized before and it gave me back gyp ><
More so that its pretty clean and original too.

it's taken 11 years!

You're a lucky man. So many other halves disapprove of their loved one's hobby, which is very sad.

I don't see it as much of a dilemma. I would ride it and see whether you like it. I personally have bikes that in theory should be too small for me, but I actually find them a lot of fun to ride as the shorter wheelbase makes the steering sharper.
