Now then, what to do about this dent. I've seen the rolling method (pinching the tube in a tube-width hole in two blocks of wood/metal) but I can't decide if it will damage the nickel if its wood (I'm sure it would if it was metal).
Tell me why it's a terrible idea to drill a pinhole in the underside of the tube and hammer it out by inserting something thin and stiff into the hole (like a 2-3mm allen key). The hole would be underneath, out of sight, and the dent is in the middle of the tube well away from the stress areas near the welds.
