Orange (Formula?) Poole

I grabbed the pics from the auction so we have them once the auction is finished. Many differences between this frame and other Formula-based finds.

It's more than likely a Dave Yates built Formula, the cross bracing is the immediate giveaway on this one. It's identical to the bracing seen on the notorious 753 version (that we all pretty much know about on here) but it can also be seen on this 1989 'Team Issue' frame below, that cropped up on here many moons ago.

As the Formulas were built between 3 (at least) different frame builders and essentially custom built, there were always likely to be differences .Not one of the 4 that I have seen on here have been alike. DY is of course equally proficient with both lugged and fillet brazing frames, so it's no wonder he experimented with both on these frames. This one also looks very much like it has the original one piece bar and stem.

I guess the question is how high will this go and who is brave enough to take it on :?:

Going by the fact we know Yates built some of them and it has the Yates signature brace I think it's safe to assume it's a Yates Formula. Interesting that the frame shares a similar design to one of the other known Formula's that wasn't built by DW rather than the other that we know was!

I asked for a size and the seller said 18". The seller is not the person that owns it btw, not that it matters.

It could certainly go high but it won't be to me as it's too small really. I'd also much prefer one of the Wade built ones as they're as Orange as you can get.

Me too - the are rocking horse poo though. Only know of one of those.

Who are the "Collectors"? Sounds like some secret organisation dedicated to preserving the bicycling heritage of the past :?

I hope it resurfaces on here at some point.

Well, i would have put my money on Sinnerman but as he has already posted im not so sure now
