Orange E3 with Pace forks

Mook

Retro Newbie
Hi Newbie here...i've been riding my 1996 orange e3 from then to date. I've kept her going but the pace forks on their way out now

was thinking of upgrading to a scott scale 30, but finding this site has made me think twice.

Going to trail the web for some decent forks and see what's possible.

....its cool to be retro!

There is a member on here who will re-build the Pace forks for you, ("justbackdated" i think), Oranges and Pace forks kind of go together.

Oh and dont ever let me see your E3 as i'm trying to sell mine, if i see i nice fully built one (have'nt yet) i'll want to keep mine and spend a fortune on it

Yeah. Give Tim (justbackdated) a shout. Ex Pace fork guru (now independent) and general nice guy. He should be able to supply the bits (or do the work) to get your forks working like new once more ;)

Oh!, and photos of the E3 please.

Hi Mook. Welcome to the site.

There's plenty of love for oranges here. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33003

Good to see there's some more Aluminium Oranges joining the ranks. As Cherrybomb said.... get some photos up!
As for the Scale 30.... it's a great bike. I've had one since '05 and it's always performed. I'm lucky enough to have a couple of Aluminium oranges as well though! ( check the signature! )... so I'm going to be a bit biased!
Just waiting on my orange/ white fade to be finished any day now!!

Cheers,
boy"O"boy

Thanks for all the comments folks, I've seen some forks on ebay that might do the trick!

Pics also uploaded.

Weren't they still on 1" steerers in 96? Not impossible to find a decent fork with a 1" steerer of course, but certainly much more difficult. In any case worth getting the RC35 rebuilt, as they still fetch a good price on eBay. Not as good as an RC36 Evo though of course, and all Pace forks of that era are convertible to 1" I believe.

If I'm wrong about the 1" in 96, please excuse me.

I think you are right about the 1" steerer on the E3, not sure exactly what year mine is but it's a later one than Mook's as it has no hanger on the rear for canti's but it still has a 1" headtube, mine is probably a 97-98, so maybe all E3's were produced with 1" headtubes ?.

Agree about getting the Pace forks rebuilt too, best option i think ;)
