If it's a 91 the cable for the front mech will be routed round a guide on the bottom bracket shell, later ones had all the cables on the top tube.

I'd say it's well worth sorting it out and riding it :)

Thats a later frame, cables are all on the top tube, top pull front mech, early ones use a bottom pull front mech.

I'm guessing thats a 93, seller must have been in some kind of parallel universe in 91 :LOL:

Nice thing though, colour is probably original, as said well worth restoring with better bits ;)

[EDIT] Actually looking at it again it aint bad at all, the stem looks like and original SK8, forks are original,looks like it just needs a nice set
of Canti's, some 8 speed STI units and a flat bar [EDIT].

Size looks more like 21 than 19 though

I would take it out and ride it as it is. Vs are perfectly fine on that bike. I would shove thumbies on it and make whatever adjustments I needed for good fit, then think about what next for a while whilst riding it. Probably some nice light short travel forks.
 
This probably won't be a popular opinion around here, but I hated my '91 Clockwork! Had a Team Marin before but broke it and the Clockwork was a replacement. It seemed like a big step back.....straight (short) top tube, really flexy frame, annoying front mech cable guide that looked like it was taken off a 1950's touring bike, the fork was super noodly etc. I solve the fork issue by buying a Bontrager Competition, and solved the frame issues by buying a Specialized M2 Team....which I also broke :LOL:

I can understand that opinion, but shove some nice forks on and use the flex to your advantage and there was a damn competitive setup.

i agree....my '91 has the thin flexy fork and whippy frame....it is however a forgiving ride, things went oversized and stiff over the following years, but it wasnt all for the better i think.....horses for courses n'all that!.... :D

Oddly I found the Clockwork I briefly had too stiff and dead, a cheap frame feel. Can't remember it's year of model but it was the early clockwork not a C series. Probably '92 as Microdrive and them terrible chrome plated PACE forks, they where bad as well. The Prestige with it's Alu forks was a much much better bike and completely different (either 92 or 93 I cannot remember)
