Although that's a very nice combo. I reckon the starting price, and the fact there is a reserve will put people off and they could make less for it than they would have done. :?

Its a tough one that, people that follow these things will have seen three Prestige frames go for less than £40 on e-bay in the past few months, so why is a Clockwork worth at least £50?

Having said that, Clockwork frames have gone for over £100 in the past so who knows!

Clockwork is the one they've heard of... why people used to buy Rolls Royce instead of Bentleys.

I just think that some people will see the £50 starting price and think it's too rich for them. They'll not put it in their 'watch' list and forget about it.

If the starting price had been lower, more people would have watched it and more people would bid on it. Chances are it'd go for more, 'cos there would be a bigger interest.

Just a theory though. :?

Personally, although I'm on the look out for a steel Orange frame, I'd not pay any more than £50 for one, so I'm one of the people who won't be watching this one. ;)

i watch stuff sometimes just to see what it goes for, no intention of bidding, just curious, especially if it's similar to something i have.

but the starting price/ reserve /buy it now etc, think you just have to play by ear depending on the item. i always start stuff on a thursday for 10 days so it ends on sunday evening, most people have less to do on a sunday night so might sit infront of the laptop while watchin hearbeat!!

as for this clockwork, i would have started it cheaper and had a reserve of £50 coz thats what he must have wanted minimum.

think it has been on before though

but people go for the clockwork coz it's the famous one, but collectors go for p7's aswell, the nickel finish one ideally, they're like the bike that every english retro biker should have in their colecion whether they like it or not! :D

Brilliant, so what we're actually saying here is that one of the key drivers of price in the 'retrobike market', is ignorance. That explains a lot.

Must add, not a dig at you two, just an observation on the pricing of this stuff as a whole.

wouldn't surprise me

of course we're ignorant! who else is dumb enough to spend lots of time and money on old clapped out stuff! :D

my boss spends loads on old bsa goldstar motorbikes! he has 4 of them! years of motorbike jumbles to find parts! his wife threatens divorce all the time if he doesn't get out of the shed!

then again we might not be ignorant just completely stupid! and a bit sad! :D
